How do I create an account?
Creating an account is very easy! Just click here and fill out the form.
The required fields are: first and last name; street address, city, state, and ZIP code; phone number (with area code); email address; and a password. The password needs to be at least six characters long and include letters and numbers.
After you've submitted the form, we'll review the information provided and send you an email letting you know you've been approved. You're good to go!

Why do you review the account requests?
As with everything at SellMySurplus.com, the issue is trust. Each account request that comes in is reviewed by a SellMySurplus.com employee. We review the requests to make sure we're dealing with people who legitimately want to do business with us.

How long will it take for my account to be approved?
Our relationships with our suppliers is our most valuable asset. We are as eager to start doing business with you as you are with us! We will let you know you're approved as soon as possible, usually the same day we receive it. Applications are only reviewed during business hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM MST. If your request falls outside of these hours, please be patient.

How do I pay for items I've bought?
You can pay in just about any way that works for you: we accept PayPal, all major credit cards, check, money order, and cash.

Creating Offers

How does the whole offer system work, anyway?
Creating an offer is a straightforward process.
  1. Give the offer a name
  2. Browse the inventory, adding items to your order

    Don't forget to press the Add Items to Offer button button!
  3. When you're finished adding items, press the View Active Offer button button to specify each item's details:
    • Rate. This is the amount you will pay us for the item. This is the per-item price; it is multiplied by the quantity (see below) to arrive at the total price for the line item. The initial value is our target price for the item.
    • Quantity. If you have multiple identical items, adjust the quantity. The rate (see above) will be multiplied by the quantity to arrive at the line item's subtotal.
  4. Add any additional comments you'd like
  5. Submit your offer
After we receive the offer, we'll review it. If we like it, we'll accept it and let you know. If we're not willing to quite meet your price, we will send you a counter-offer. You can counter our counter-offer, and so on, until we arrive at an offer on which we both agree.

What are the comments for?
A better question might be: what aren't the comments for? Use the comments to provide more detail about an offer. If you have slightly different but all valid expiration dates on your Inkjet cartridges, don't bother with different line items! Just make a quick note about the specific dates in the comments. You can also add the tracking numbers for your shipment once you get them.
Our sales reps constantly check and respond to your comments, so it's a good place to put any questions you have about the offer. They're your venue for adding any the explanation or details your offer needs … use it!

What do the icons mean?
This is the offer icon. Offers which have not yet been submitted to SellMySurplus.com are represented with this icon.
This is the pending offer icon. Pending offers have been submitted to SellMySurplus.com and are waiting to be accepted or declined.
This is the pending counter-offer icon. The original offer has been replaced by a counter-offer from SellMySurplus.com. (The old offer's status is changed to declined.)
This is the accepted offer icon. Accepted offers have been agreed to by SellMySurplus.com and are ready to be shipped (by sellers) or paid for (by buyers).
This is the declined offer icon. Declined offers were not agreed to by SellMySurplus.com, but are usually replaced by counter-offers.
This is the comment icon. Comments are attached to offers and include important messages from buyers and sellers to SellMySurplus.com, and vice versa.
This is the new comment icon. It indicates when an offer has a new comment waiting to be read.
